It’s a space originally designed for cooking but, with time, it has also become a social space where friends and families spend time together, where they chat while someone is making dinner or where they simply gather to socialize. But a kitchen needs to be, first of all, functional. It’s a space where style comes second but, nevertheless, doesn’t have to be ignored. It’s a space where everything has to be perfectly balanced.

We love how crisp and clean this entire space is and the flooring plays its hand in that vision nicely. Also, notice the greens and yellows contrasting beautifully with all of the cream. Also a gorgeous geo pattern. This design is a bit bigger so it expands the space of the floor even more so – or at least gives the illusion. And it coincides nicely with the trendy, contemporary nature of the kitchen.

One of the greatest advantages of porcelain floor tiles is the fact that they’re relatively easy to install which makes them a great option for DIY lovers and anyone who wants to to save some money. Combined with the low cost of the tiles, this is a wonderful budget-friendly plan. Like we mentioned before, these tiles come in lots and lots of different shapes and colors, including this interesting combo. It’s amazing how much the floor tiles can change a kitchen and how much little things like their form can impact the big picture and the final design.

Concrete can crack: that’s a risk that comes along with concrete countertops, most commonly when poured in place rather than pre-cast. To prevent it, you may add fiber reinforcement, rebar, and/or wire mesh but if they still appear, they can be repaired. Concrete backsplashes require maintenance. Reseal your backsplash every one to three years, avoid abrasive cleaners and scrubbers that can damage sealer. Consider all these pros and cons and decide if concrete is worth it or not.

It’s often mistaken for Carrara marble although it presents several unique particularities such as the generally white background and dark veining in large and thick patterns. A marble backsplash can look very elegant and stylish but, given the characteristics of the material, requires constant maintenance. Still, cleaning a marble backsplash is easy.

You can paint your beadboard backsplash in any color, which will enhance the theme of your kitchen interior and match or contrast, if you wish, the color of your cabinetry. Try using a dark beige, slate blue, or mint green for a look that’s a little bit country and a yet edgy, too. On the whole, beadboard is great for kitchen backsplashes, this is a material with a lot of advantages and it’s easy to install yourself.

If you think that dark cabinets are too gloomy, rock light-colored wooden ones with a black tile backsplash. You can also try teal, dark grey and brown and some contrasting countertops and a backsplash.
